Meet Our Director
With over 30 years in the timber industry, Steven has built a career on strong relationships, expertise, and a commitment to quality. Starting as a trainee at Mallinson Denny at 17, he progressed to external sales before joining Finnforest, a Finnish timber importer, where he spent seven years working with Timber & Builders Merchants.
At 34, he founded Swedscot Timber Ltd, supplying high-quality timber products to a trusted customer base. After 13 successful years, the company was acquired by SCA Timber, where he continued leading operations in Scotland before deciding to return to independent business ownership.
In January 2024, he launched S & S Timber, named in honour of his late father, Sandy. The business has been met with fantastic support from long-standing industry connections and new customers alike, offering a wide range of high-quality timber products with a focus on reliability and competitive pricing.
Outside of work, he enjoys relaxing in Inverness, taking slow-paced walks with his 13-year-old Labrador, Tori, and pushing himself through Peloton workouts—despite always thinking, “never again” after a tough session!
